Simplify the following expression: (5x2 + 3x + 4) - (2x2 - 6x + 3). If the final answer is written in the form Ax2 + Bx + C, what is the value of B?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I am POSITIVE this is -3... but I got it wrong last time so I dunno
OpenStudy (anonymous):
What did you think the answer was?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think the answer is 9
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I mean since we're subtracting we switch the signs in the second one, making it 3 - 6 not 3 - (-6)....

Sooooo... -3?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hmm, this is a confusing question
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I know... :/
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Did you try reversing the signs before you were subtracting?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Started subtracting*

If you do that then doesn't that make it 3 - 6? just like i said?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Is this multiple choice? If so, give me the choices. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out by looking at the choices. I'm just not sure about the answers I'm getting
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Nope it's one that you type in... I have this in my notes from the lesson
OpenStudy (anonymous):
"When subtracting polynomials the second polynomial’s signs change."
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm sorry I can't help you with this one. I'll tag someone, see if he can figure it out

Simplify the following expression: (x + 6y) - (3x - 10y). If the final answer is written in the form Ax + By, what is the value of A?
We said -2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
He does, he's much more reliable then me
OpenStudy (broskishelleh):
@ImaGuest You deserve it for tagging me
OpenStudy (broskishelleh):
@LearningIsAwesome Just tag me if you have any more!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think....
OpenStudy (broskishelleh):
Which one @LearningIsAwesome
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The very top one
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Simplify the following expression: (x + 6y) - (3x - 10y). If the final answer is written in the form Ax + By, what is the value of A?
We said -2

actually you said -3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think 9, but I'm not too sure. -3 seems correct but he said he got it wrong
OpenStudy (anonymous):
That was for a similar problem
OpenStudy (broskishelleh):
@LearningIsAwesome The very first is 3x^2+9x+1
OpenStudy (broskishelleh):
@LearningIsAwesome
(x + 6y) - (3x - 10y)
Is 16

(x + 6y) - (3x - 10y) is 16y−2x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
really?
OpenStudy (broskishelleh):
Yep
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so A is -2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wait which one we looking at? cause I'm looking at the top one

Oh, I was looking at the wrong one :P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x-3x = -2x and Ax = -2x so A is -2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Well, I gotta go. I'd give that medal to bro, he deserves it. Sorry I can't help you anymore
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Am I correct about -2? @Broskishelleh
