What is the length of line segment ED?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a triangle adds up to be 90 always

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unless this is paperhangers a^2+b^2=c^2

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Is DF a diameter? Are we to assume that?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

If it is, that would mean that FED is a right angle.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmmm doesn't have to be, even if DF is the diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a^2+65^2=60^2

OpenStudy (imstuck):

IF FED is a right angle, then FD is also the hypotenuse. Then you could use a^2 + b^2 = c^2 or 65^2 = 60^2 + x^2...or 4225 = 3600 + x^2...4225 - 3600 = c^2...c^2 = 625...c = 25. Then that would be the length of ED.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that was correct thank you so much!

OpenStudy (imstuck):

You're welcome!
