Solve for x: −2x + 5 < 7 x > −1 x < −1 x > −6 x < −6

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Method 1: −2x + 5 < 7: subtract 5 from both sides and reduce the resulting inequality. After simplifying the result, divide both sides of your latest inequality by -2 AND reverse the direction of the inequality sign. Method 2: −2x + 5 < 7 Add 2x to both sides. Then subtract 7 from both sides. Combine like terms. Then divide both sides by +2.
