Does anyone know how use to long division for a polynomial? (7x^3 +6x^2 −17x−6)÷(x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well its like normal long division, look at the x+2, it can only go with the same power, see what i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah so it would go with the 17?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, it basically matching up with right variables and power and since there is only two things the x+2 can go into with, 17x and the last number the rest is you dont worry about really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup I'm confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its confusing, i understand, i have problems with it too, but think of it as normal division, just with powers and variables

There's an easier way to do it that avoids the confusion.
