Hey, I have seen some new people on Openstudy, but they don't seem to know how to use it. When you answer their questions they don't give medals, when they leave they don't come back, etc.
I was thinking it would be nice if their were somekind of tutorial for starters to watch/read so they can get started a lot easier.
@Abhisar Do you think this is a valid idea?
We have one, but it's a bit lengthy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDiiH8PItto Makeshift Table of Contents if you need to reference stuff: 0:14 - 0:25 Basic Layout 0:26 - 0:56 Subjects 0:58 - 1:14 How to Ask a Question 1:15 - 1:47 How Chats work 1:48 - 3:21 Comments (draw tool, equation tool, attach file) 3:22 - 3:45 Navigation (Notifications, Messages, Fans, etc) 3:47 - 4:16 Profile and Settings ( 4:15 Change Picture) 4:46 - 5:03 Bumping 5:04 - 5:25 Asking for help in chats 5:26 - 5:49 Tagging 5:51 - 6:12 Messaging 6:13 - 6:24 How to Medal 6:25 - 6:39 Closed Questions 6:40 - 6:45 Announcements 6:46 - 6:52 SmartScore 6:52 - 7:24 Where to find the Rules
O.o I never knew about that. Well, maybe a tutorial that is simpler and easier to reach?
@satellite73 @ganeshie8 @thomaster @mathmale
it's somewhere on the list of things to do... but they higher up have got more "important" stuff to worry about ;) it was considered but meanwhile, just give the video link to them when they don't know what to do but I do believe that there are pop up bubbles with "how to"s when a user first begins and also, I don't think the "don't give medals" and "leave"ing problem has to do with not having a tutorial if they like that you've helped them and want to give you something in return I give them this message ^ ya know... there's this "Best Response" button over there --> It helps to show that you liked the help a person gave :P
The thing is I feel like they are totally lost. When they leave they have no idea how to get back. They don't understand how medals work. Etc. I just thought it would be nice for them, to have them start on the fast track.
hmm unless they turn off the tips bubbles immediately, they should be seeing things like this: when smartscore is no longer 0 -> http://prntscr.com/3yzejj when click into the comment box -> http://prntscr.com/3yzeqj when someone else answers -> http://prntscr.com/3yzf2i
there's also a prezi tutorial slideshow somewhere, can't find it atm.
Well, that actually should help. So how many links are there, so I can keep them handy when helping new recruits?
This is also the core purpose that Ambassadors exist.
Well, I was just wondering... I don't even know if people have the time
prezi link, small, concise, beautiful http://prezi.com/fs3hqdpcopic/an-unofficial-guide-to-openstudy/
