The Chinese agreed to open five coastal ports to British trade, limit taxes on imported British goods, and pay for the costs of the war. China had an agreement with the British to give them Hong Kong. & The Europeans had their own little section in the 5 coastal ports, they also didn't have to abide by the Chinese laws they had their own which was called extraterritoriality.
