Think about this for a second...a turbine's function is to spin around, and it is its movement and position (potential and kinetic energy) which generates the energy which is then passed on to the generator. The generator's job will always be to generate electricity from this rotation, so it should be clear what it converts the turbine's energy to. The turbine's energy cannot be destroyed, but only converted into another form (conservation of energy).
