n your opinion, what effect do bad (faked) scientific studies have on the public's perception  and trust in the legitimacy of science and scientific research?

@QUISE94 Not really a question we can help with.  Though I would point out that most scientists that publish went to at least 8 years of schooling for their field and have highly specialized knowledge that the public is not too stupid to work with, but simply has not taken the time to learn the material like the scientists.  

This means the public has to trust the truthfulness of scientists.  Just as when a doctor tells you that you have X and need treatment Y you can either trust them or not.  So, what do you think that lying and falsifying studies would do to your faith in scientists?
