Help on 2 precalc problems please
for the first one i picked all real numbers except -4 and 6 and it was wrong for the second one i picked all real numbers and it was wrong
The numerator has a square root. Square root is not defined for negative numbers (at least not for real values) and so x + 1 has to be greater than or equal to 0. Additionally, x cannot be -4 or 6. Combine all the conditions.
so the first question would be A?
x + 1 >= 0 or x >= -1 x cannot be -4. If the above condition is satisfied x will not be -4 and so this condition is already part of the previous condition and therefore can be ignored. x cannot be 6. So x x >= -1 and x cannot be 6.
