Which of the inequalities represents all values of x for which he product below is defined? (THE HECK DOES THIS MEAN)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the question is asking what is the smallest value of x that will give an answer in the set of real numbers... you don't want negatives in either square root... as the product will result in a negative value or complex number... so you are being asked, which of the 4 inequalities will always result in a zero or positive answer, which will be in the set of real numbers

So I have to plug in each of those values for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find out whether they give a zero or a positive answer, right?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

thats correct
