Not too strong in math but feeling more confident about it, would it be OK to take college alg & pre-calc in the same semester (took elementary & intermediate alg last semester).. thanks for any advice!
depends on your confidence level. the math classes for me were always the simplest and i never had to worry about passing them.
Confidence level is a bit shaky right now... however, I have a lot of motivation and am going to be under quite a bit of pressure to get through calc rather quickly. So I don't know...
pre calc is just trigonometry; that takes a lot of memorization but its simple enough if you can work right triangles.
college algebra ..... it tends to culminate in quadratics and is simple enough to deal with.
when i first started back at college, they placed me in intermediate alg. i had done all the homework in the first 10 days, so my prof gave me the college algebra homework, i completed that and started to just take old textbooks from th elibrary and teach myself
Do I need to have a history in trig?? I've never taken trig either! I think college alg will be pretty simple for me, but is it something I need to be pretty advanced in before taking pre-calc?
pre calc is trig
If only I had your brain ;)
there is nothing advanced in college algebra or precalc .... college algebra has you playing with graphs and quadratics; precal has you doing trig, which is why ive always wondered why it was called pre calc .... unless it was just because that was the class you had to take before taking calc lol
i had signed up for some math class that had trig as a prereq ..... but i had taken precalc. i looked in the catalogs for prior years and saw that the class name was changed from precalc to trig. i showed my academic advisor and he got rid of the redflag so that i could take the class
