A scientist estimated that a mixture would need 4 milliliters of a chemical to balance. The actual amount needed was 7 milliliters. What was the percent error of the scientist's estimation?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What was the absolute error?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is none its for percentages.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Then you do not understand what you are doing. There IS an absolute error. Otherwise, you CANNOT calculate the percent error. I ask again, what is the Absolute Error? How far off was the estimate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, I'm i didn't really understand what you were asking but iv'e found the answer thank you though.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Funny thing about "Percent Error". What do you do when the real answer is zero? Just a thought question.
