May you check my answer, I got "D" Bob climbs a mountain, but starts below sea level. He climbs the same number of feet each hour. If the function showing his elevation for any hour is y = 850x – 325, what elevation, in feet, did he start at? A. 325 B. 850 C. –850 D. –325 @Cosmichaotic @tkhunny

OpenStudy (aric200):

Yes it is D

OpenStudy (aric200):

Just make x into zero and solve for y. y = -325

OpenStudy (aric200):

?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

"I go t D" just isn't very helpful. Show your work! HOW did you get D? Give me something so I don't have to wonder if you just read it out of the back of the book.

OpenStudy (aric200):

They said this is your logic haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aric200 exactly... smh. I solved for y and got y=850x-325 ... @tkhunny I'm sorry, I thought you asked me to do the problem, I provided the answer for checking.. I thought that was enough...

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

There is no such thing as "provided the answer for checking". There is ONLY "show your work". I am a little disappointed that the function is in terms of 'x'. It's usually a little more clear if one uses 't' for some period of time. The starting point of the venture is given where Time = 0. In your function, this corresponds with x = 0, giving y = -325. Thus, we see that D: -325 is the correct response. This is an example of what it takes to show your work. Just let us know what you are thinking. We'll all get along better. :-)

...Didnt know that's what you meant..
