Many plant hormones show opposite effects. For example, the hormone present in the meristematic tissues of the shoots inhibits branching, whereas this effect is nullified by the hormones produced by roots. The answer is A. Auxins inhibit lateral buds but encourage apical growth. Cytokinins, when in greater abundance than Auxins, will produce lateral bud growth thus inhibiting the effects of Auxins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cytokinin Source: Biology Degree
