Can anyone please help me with this question? Captain Jim is going to load his pirate ship with barrels. He has room for 12 barrels. He has allotted for 103 pounds of barrels on his ship. He can choose from 8-pound barrels (the variable a) or 11-pound barrels (the variable b). Which equations would be a constraint to Captain Jim maximizing his barrel load? 8a = 103 - 11b 8a = 103 + 11b a - b = 12 a = 12 + b

the third one.. I think. @Luigi0210

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

he can choose from 8 or 11 pound barrels so 8a will be the amount of pounds in the 8lb barrrels 11b will be the amount of pounds in the 11lb barrels their sum must equal 103 lbs, since that's all he can fit in his ship thus 8a + 11b = 103

thank you both
