This is a computer science question, but here's an answer anyway. Don't know what language you're running. If you're running Java, k=1 Explanation as follows: Evaluation left-to-right ++i*++i is evaluated as 2*3, since increment is prefix increment (immediate) j++*j++ is evaluated as 2*3, since increment is a postfix increment.
