no googling eh, well I use to experiment in the lab way back, and certain chemicals tend to burn in different colors and some are very bright. I use to put a flame inside a test tube with a chemical in it, Its beautiful, glad it didn't explode. And regarding lift, well gunpowder will do :D My opinion
