If f(x)=4x+3 and g(x) = 3x evaluate f(x).g(x) for x=-1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply both functions: (4x + 3) 3x = ? Then replace x with -1/2 and calculate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this a composite of the two functions f(g(x))?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would actually (if it is multiplying both functions), plug in the (-1/2) for the x in each function first. Calculate your answers for each. Then multiply. f(x) = 4x+ 3 -> f(-1/2) = 4(-1/2) + 3 -> f(-1/2) = 1 g(x) = 3x -> g(-1/2) = 3(-1/2) -> g(-1/2) = -3/2 g(x) x f(x) = (-3/2) x 1 -> -3/2
