A car starts from xi = 12m at ti = 0 and moves with the velocity graph shown in figure below. What is the objects position and t=3s and t=4s? Picture in comments below

|dw:1404684093389:dw| For t = 3s, find the area of triangle AOB.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add this value to initial position 12 m to get the position at t = 3s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so at t=3s it is 30..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct! Now go for t = 4s..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how the are is 30!! it is 3x12x0.5=18 m at 3sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then t=4 is 28 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey man get area!! at 4 sec you will minus the 2 triangles 18-2= 16 m

I got the right answers according to Mastering Physics.. Thank you ShailKumar for telling me how to do this :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u get 30 for 3sec ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Catch me it is area plus the initial position of 12m

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK thanks i didn't read your initial question carefully :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Happy learning ! :) @zydic and @Catch.me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ShailKumar :D , but i do know that concept just didn't read the question carefully :P

Never mind! :) @Catch.me
