Help please. ABCDE ~ FGHIJ. Figure 2 is a dilation of figure 1, and the scale factor is 0.6. Given that FG = 12 cm, find AB. A. 2 cm B. 7.2 cm C. 20 cm D. 24 cm

@tkhunny 0.6 * 2 would be 7.2 so is B correct?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

FG and AB are corresponding line segments. As linear measures, they should have exactly the same ratio as the dilation. Note that AB is larger than FG. \(\dfrac{FG}{AB} = 0.6\) Please try again.

I got 24.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

?? You'll have to show me that. Check the batteries in your calculator. \(\dfrac{FG}{AB} = \dfrac{12}{AB} = 0.6 \rightarrow \dfrac{12}{0.6} = AB = 20\) Okay, how did you manage 24?
