Thymus gland

OpenStudy (idek-ok):

"The adrenal gland and thymus are important to a developing child, clearly the ovaries can be ruled out as if they were that important for child development then both men and women would have them. The thymus is arguably the most important as it plays a pivotal role with the development of the immune system. The adrenal glands are also important as because they control the secretion of hormones that help the body determine which source of fuel to burn whether its Fats or Carbohydrates. It also helps in the development of the adrenal system but i would argue than in children the gland which is most active during childhood development would be the thymus as it would be continuously active maturing T-cells for the immune system.
