how is hardness define when identiflying minerals

OpenStudy (idek-ok):

"I think it it the organization of crystals, which help to identify the hardness of a substance. Cause ability of scratch resistance doesn't make sense with the hardness of the material. Density is a function of mass and volume, Which are rather dimensional. Size of the crystals cannot affect the hardness. As in case of any semiconductor material, the size of the crystal particles don't cause any change in its behaviour, which is expected. Last, left with the organization of the crystals. It may cause the change in hardness. As we find the amorphous substances to be rather weak and less hard in comparison to the crystalline substances. hence, it is D. Organization of crystals. Hope it helps you to seek your answer. :)"
