Solve this system of equations. Write the answer as an ordered pair. -5x - 2y = -2 x - 7y = -7

OpenStudy (imstuck):

You could solve this one of a couple of ways. Either by using matrices (which I don't recommend for this), substitution, or addition. Probably the substitution method is the easiest. Are you familiar with either one of those (substitution or addition methods)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, ive just done a few lessons on substitution. and i think ive heard of addition methods.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Let's do substitution then. We need to solve the second equation for x, just to make it easiest. Can you solve that second equation for x? x - 7y = -7

OpenStudy (imstuck):

x=

ill try

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Cool. Let me know what you get. If you struggle I will help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because i had to substitute, i have the equation.... -5(7y-7)-2y=-2
