you have to multiply everything inside the brackets with the product outside the brackets. So both 5x3 and -7 must be multiplied with 2x3 5x3x2x3 = 5x2x3x3 = 10x9 -7x2x3 = -14x3 now put them back together again and you'll get 10x9-14x3
