Given the functions j(x) = x2 - 9 and k(x) = -x + 7, which operation results in a 3rd degree polynomial? Addition Subtraction Multiplication No operations

MULTIPLY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can't add variables with unequal exponents with each other, you can't subtract them. adding them would get you: x² - x -2 (2nd degree polynomial) subtracting them would get you: x²+x-16 (2nd degree polynomial) multiplying: (x² -9) (-x + 7)= -x³ + 7x² -9x - 63 (3rd degree polynomial)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry should be -x³+7x²+9x-63
