The yearling, isn't that the book about the Yodi who adopts a baby doe. But the baby doe grows up and wreaks havoc on the farm and Yodi is instructed to kill it. Instead of shooting it, he chases it away, but it comes back and so eventually his 'pa' has to do it. Was made into a movie with Gregor Peck.
oh sounds nice it looks like she knows more about it than me
its a book
yes but she is saying it was made into a movie
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Yearling (I read the book when I was a child long ago, and watched the 1948 movie a few times).
yep thats it! can you fill this out for me?
@sweetsunray you will be a lifesaver!!!!!!!
Sorry, I think you ought to fill it out yourself, Russiaborn. I'm willing to give you sources and remark that it's about growing up, from the romantic notion to learning the hard and often painful realities of life. There's the constant shift from the loving relationship with his father Ezra and his pet doe "Flag" in opposition with destructive forces of nature: snake bite, flooding, the death of his friend (and his other siblings), and eventually the destruction by the doe. In the end he ends up shooting the doe to help it out of its mysery.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya'll are my only hope! please!!!!!!!!!!!1
@lauren_bisko can you still help?
@RussianBorn you should be giving @sweetsunray 10 medals and be happy with what she provided in such a short time. You are responsible to do some of your work. Thanks @ sweetsunray.
i dont know if ill be able to get it done in the time you need it.
Jody increases the conflict in two ways: first by chasing the doe away and refusing to shoot it. But it can't survive on its own and returns and destroys the whole crop. Then after he had to shoot it to help it out of its mysery he runs away from home, and has to survive on his own in the Florida outback with no water, no food, no company. The antagonist in this story is his mother Ora Baxter. While his father hopes to protect him from the hardships of his life, his mother Ora wants to do the opposite. And because she lost so many children, she's fearful of showing him any kind of affection. So to Jody she seems unloving and harsh and bitter. She shoots the doe, but though it's fatally wounded, she doesn't kill it. So, Jody has to give it a mercy shot. As a result her son runs away, and she's fearful for his life. When he returns she finally is able to show him affection and reveal she always loved him and is happy to have him back.
there you go now you just have to fill it out :) thanks sweetsunray
@sweetsunray is that the whole thing? like all i need to do is fie it out in the document?
can you label it on which is which?
Almost yeah. Haven't read or seen it in a low while and don't know what your teacher means with "falling action", but I suspect that's when he runs away. The climax is when he is sent out to kill Flag and chases it way and then eventually has to shoot it anyway. But the book is gradually getting to the climax. When Flag is getting bigger he starts to jump over the fence. He tries to convince his mom that all they need to do is build a bigger fence for a surround to keep the doe in, though his mom (I think) argues that it's not right to shut up an animal like that. All for nothing, because Flag jumps that fence easily too. That's when he's ordered to shoot it.
I think I've helped you well enough. Good luck!
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
