Which data set has the greatest spread for the middle 50% of its data? {18, 13, 22, 17, 21, 24} {17, 19, 22, 26, 17, 14} {13, 17, 12, 21, 18, 20} {18, 21, 16, 22, 24, 15}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're just looking for the IQR (inter quartile range) for your data. sort your data from smallest to largest. from there it should be fairly obvious, if not i can help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its c but im not sure of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you sort your data (from smallest to largest)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did but now i thinks its A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 17 18 21 22 24 14 17 17 19 22 26 12 13 17 18 20 21 15 16 18 21 22 24 so what's the first quartile for each data set?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 17 and down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i figured it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

q1 = 15, q3 = 23 => IQR = 8 q1 = 15.5, q3 = 24 => IQR = 8.5 q1 = 11.5, q3 = 20.5 => IQR = 9 q1 = 15.5, q3 = 23 => IQR = 7.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which data set has a greater spread? Why? A: {38, 12, 23, 48, 55, 16, 18} B: {44, 13, 24, 12, 56}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's the range of each data set? that's one way of looking at spread.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i put them in order then i got 56 and 12
