The Articles' weakness was that they gave the federal government so little power that it couldn't keep the country united. The Articles were abandoned for the Constitution. The Articles of confederation did not give the federal government the power to tax The Articles of confederation did not have an executive branch in other words no president The Articles of Confederation did not have a judicial branch to resolve disputes and set policy. It was very difficult to pass laws under the Articles of Confederation 9/13 of the states had to agree and almost impossible to revise the Articles the need every state to agree in order to make a change.
