If m = 5x – 8, m = 3y, and m = 132, find the values of x and y.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you have the equation 132 = 5x - 8 solve for x then you also have 132 = 3y solve for y. hope it helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = 48

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I think y = 44

OpenStudy (cp9454):

ya that's right y=44 and x=28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 132, y = 48 x = 16, y = 28 x = 48, y = 132 x = 28, y = 16 this is my awnsers so you said that x was 132 the y has to be 48 to match

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

lol.... well it looks like a typo of some kind to me... what did you get for x..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dude I dont know thats why I am asking other people. I suck at math

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well based on the equation, x = 28 or 140 = 5x so x = 28 then the same for y 132 = 3y 132/3 = y
