Um... Hi? Can someone explain to me in more detail how to earn 'SmartCents'? Also, could someone explain what the titles are for exactly?
They are for motivation. Who doesn't like to "upgrade" their account to get new name colors, higher smartscore and titles which reflect your dedication to a particular subject? You gain smartcents for every medal you get, regardless of the subject you earned it in. You can unlock titles by getting a fixed amount of medals in a subject. There are 3 tiers, tier 1 costs 50 medals, tier 2 costs 500 medals and tier 3 costs 3000 medals. The trick is to get this amount of medals in 1 subject, but you can also use medals gained in other subject to unlock a title. This sounds a little confusing I guess, so a little example: You earned 3000 medals in mathematics, so you can buy any of the 3 titles. BUT, you decide to try the tier 2 title, which costs 500 smartcents. So now your smartcents balance is 2500. which means you cannot purchase the tier 3 title (3000 smartcents). So you can earn 500 medals in any subject to get the 3000 smartcents required. Hope you'll understand :)
Welcome to OpenStudy by the way @BeautifulNightmare.
Thank you, @thomaster, but how much is one medal worth exactly? I've earned 175 smart cents (before I purchased the title 'Super Librarian') but I've only earned 117 medals (106 in English). Is there other ways that you can earn Smart Cents? Thank you, @Cosmichaotic
Like I said, your SmartCents is basically the sum of all your medals, regardless of the subject. The unlocking part requires medals in a particular subject.
I'm not aware of other ways to earn SmartCents though. Ask @Preetha
There are no other ways _yet_ :) but who knows.. maybe there'll be some at some point :)
