OpenStudy (cp9454):

A football is thrown in a parabolic path. Tell where the acceleration will be parallel and perpendicular to velocity. @LarsEighner , @SchoolKid , @No.name

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

red arrows are velocity green arrows are acceleration

OpenStudy (cp9454):

when they will be parallel.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

never

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

notice that the acceleration is always pointing vertically down. can the football ever go in that direction in a projectile motion ?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

ganeshie8 is right. In a true parabolic motion, acceleration and velocity are never parallel.
