Someone has deleted a reply from above - the reply was good - I just wanted you to be aware that there are 2 solutions. (There nearly always are 2 solutions when you have a 'squared' term in your equation.

It will have a +/- solution. sqrt(289) = +/- 17

As 17^2 and (-17)^2 both yield 289 as a solution.
