what would happen to a cell if the fatty acids in the cell membrane became soluble in water?

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

Firstly, this is mathematics section so please post this in chemistry or biology section. Secondly, I don't think free fatty acids exist in cell membrane... Thirdly, which grade are you in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) It would cause the cell to lose all its contents B)It would decrease the amount of ions needed by a mitochondrion c) It would increase the rate of cell division D)it would stop all substances from passing through

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

I guess the cell membrane will dissolve so A? Don't count on me though.
