Some students are performing a hydrobiology project on a creek. They obtained the GPP value as 7 mg/l and the R value as 3 mg/l. What could be the NPP for the creek water? 21 mg/l 10 mg/l 4 mg/l

So GPP and NPP are terms that refer to the primary production, the conversion through photosynthesis of energy to biomass. Gross = total; Net = what remains after you subtract away the energy needed for respiration. NPP is also the amount of energy available for the consumers in the ecosystem. If we label the respiration rate as R, we come up with a neat little formula: NPP = GPP - R. I think you can fill in the rest!
