that is how geometry came about, looking at the stars.......it was used in navigation
Astronomers use geometry formulas to measure the distance from the Earth to other objects in space. They can predict things like predict planetary alignment. They determine angles and orbits of the planets, and to predict the movements of objects in space, for instance comets.
