Let u = <7, -3>, v = <-9, 5>. Find 4u - 3v.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi would I just multiply this normally?

OpenStudy (phi):

a constant times a vector means multiply each element of the vector by that constant. example: c * <a,b> = <ac, bc> to add vectors, you add corresponding elements

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it'd be <28,-12>-<-27,15>

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got <55,-27>

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you soooo much! :D This vector stuff is finally starting to make sense!

OpenStudy (phi):

and (if you do "technical work" ) is very useful
