The scores for the first five basketball games were: 89, 94, 90, 106, 92 If the score of the sixth game was 98, how is the median changed? increased by 2 decreased by 1 increased by 1 no change

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

to find the median: step 1: order your data set from smallest to largest in that order step 2: since there is an odd-number of data points (there are 5), just pick the middle value. That will be the median. (Let's call it med1) Now, when you add the extra score of 98, put it in your list in order again (from smallest to largest). Then, since there is an even number of data points now (there are 6), you pick the two middle values, and average them. Call this median med2 Now, to see how the median changed, just compare med2 with med1. You can do this by doing (med2 - med1)
