OpenStudy (zab505):

The set of complex numbers is the set of all numbers of the form a + bi, where a and b are real numbers and i =√-1. True or False?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

what do you think?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

I could say yes, and then you are done. Or you could look up the definition on google and make sure.(because I could be wrong)

OpenStudy (zab505):

I think its true.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

it is

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

by definition the complex numbers are the extension of the reals that contain all the real numbers and any multiple/sum of sqrt{-1} i.e. a+bi where a and b are real. and they did all this, just so they would have a solution to \(x^2+1=0\). Crazy people.....

OpenStudy (zab505):

Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (zab505):
