Tammy is estimating how much she should charge for painting 148 rooms in a motel with 1 coat of base paint and 1 coat of finishing paint. The 4 walls and the ceiling of each room must be painted. Each room measures 14 ft by 16 by 10 ft high. Calculate the total area of all the surfaces to be painted with each coat. Ignore doors and windows.
What is the surface area of each room that must be painted?
idk.. doesnt say on the paper...
You have to solve that. Each room has how many walls to be painted and how many ceilings?

never mind.. theres another problem that goes attached to this... One gallon of base paint covers 500 square ft ,One gallon of finishing paint covers 250 square ft. How many gallons of each will Tammy need for the job??
You still need to determine the total surface area that needs to be painted.
so its 180 for the surface area...
How did you determine that?
i used the drawing that you did that determines only one face of the square and did that for the rest of the faces of the square and added all the measures up.. and i got 180..
