Griffin ordered a pair of sneakers online. He had a $20 credit that he applied towards the purchase, and then he used a credit card for the rest of the cost. If the shoes where $70, how much did Griffin charge to his credit card when he bought the sneakers?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Price less Credit? Don't be confused by the use of the word "credit" to mean two different things.

So the shoes cost 70 dollars and he already had 20 dollars store credit (or a gift card if you'd like, your choice) that would take 20 dollars off the purchase. So it would be the original price for the shoes, minus the discount he had, and then the remaining amount of money left for the purchase would be what he charged to his credit card.
