It can help you keep in touch with other people about important events.

It can also share impressions quickly with others. A few texted words can be much faster than calling someone up if you don't want to stay connected long. Also, emotes!

-Quick and easy
-Cheap as long as you don't send too many
-Other people won't be able to hear what is being said on the texts
-Quiet, so others won't hear what you are saying
-If you don't have enough credit, you can text someone and ask them to phone you
-You can say things to others that you probably wouldn't say in person.
-Its portable, and no internet is needed.
-Easy to text
-Talk in text language such as: l8r, gr8, plz etc. so its fast
-You can store texts, so you can re-look at dates, outings, etc.
-It's easier to text someone if you're not able to speak confidently on the phone.
-You can text a person back at what ever time, so you can think of what to say, such as an excuse, or what you want to do in the school holidays, where as in a phone call, you are limited with time.
-You can send greetings on your phone through texting, such as birthday greetings, anniversary, christmas etc. Or you can send emotions, sounds, or pictures taken from your phone.
-Exersizes your finger muscles
-The person you are texting cannot see your exressions or tone of voice, or if you are laughing, or crying, so if you send them a sarcastic text message, you don't know whether to take them seriously or not, which could make the friendship awkward.
