Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic work of literature. A work comes to be classic because it contains a universal theme, something we can all learn from. This work in particular contains quite a timely lesson for members of the Republican and Democratic parties. Both sides can most definitely learn from Lee's book. Just as Jem and Scout put aside their fears of Boo Radley, members of both sides need to learn to be more tolerant of one another. This great country is becoming polarized because the parties are so focused on each other's differences. Rather, they should put aside their own prejudices and come together for the good of the nation.
