The first one means..."when x is 0, what is y?" Do you see that? When x doesn't move from the origin, y has a ceertain value. Like this...(0, ?)

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Do you know what f(0) is?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

For your second graph with the absolute values, let me tell you that absolute value equations will always have 2 solutions...like this:

OpenStudy (imstuck):

\[5x+6=41\]and\[5x+6= -41\]which gives you two solutions when you solve each for x.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

So each of those absolute value equations has 2 solutions. For the record, the solutions are x = 7, x = -9.4, x = 7.5, x = -20.5

OpenStudy (imstuck):

BTW, f(0) in your first problem is 1. When x = 0, y = 1
