Help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we meet again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the correct simplification of the expression (7x - 3)(4x^2 - 3x - 6). 28x^3 - 33x^2 - 33x - 18 28x^3 + 33x^2 - 33x + 18 28x^3 - 51x^2 - 33x + 18 28x^3 - 33x^2 - 33x + 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes we do!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right okay I see how that worked!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7x − 3)(4x2 − 3x − 6) = 28x^3 - 21x^2 - 42x - 12x^2 + 9x + 18 = 28x^3 - 33x^2 - 33x + 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the correct simplification of the expression -6x^2(4x - 7x^2 - 2). 42x^4 + 24x^3 - 12x^2 -42x^4 + 24x^3 - 12x^2 -13x^4 - 2x^3 - 8x^2 42x^4 - 24x^3 + 12x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh cause it's in standard decreasing order???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply each term and add the exponents

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was looking at it in like that way it was set up it totally confused me haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mug so many replies .-.

OpenStudy (phi):

the problem is not in standard order. You should re-arrange terms (to lessen the chance of making a mistake). the order does not change the answer, but it's easier to read

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah but the answers were in standard.. right?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, all the choices are in standard format. btw, how did you get c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was just kind of guessing off of intuition and thought the first one was the result of -6x^2*4x and then maybe combined with another term or something, I was just confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-6x^2 * 4x = -24x^3 -6x^2 * -7x^2 = 42x^4 -6x^2 * -2 = 12x^2

OpenStudy (phi):

I asked, because one way to learn is understand the "bug" in your thinking (and then fix it) In this case, it sounds more like "being lazy", because you could have multiplied each of the 3 terms by -6x^2, then put the answer into standard form. You probably would have gotten the correct answer if you did that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got that now, but I was just thrown off.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help on just a few more in this that I didn't fully get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The following table shows the length and width of two rectangles: Length Width Rectangle A x + 8 x - 1 Rectangle B 4x + 5 3x - 2 Which expression is the result of the perimeter of rectangle B minus the perimeter of rectangle A? 10x - 12 18x + 32 10x - 8 18x + 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10x-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(4x+5)+2(3x-2)-2(x+8)+2(x-1)=10x-8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a ton, I put it (x+1) at the end not -.... I feel stupid!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome c:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the correct product of (5x - 11)^2. 25x^2 - 110x + 121 25x^2 - 121 25x^2 + 121 25x^2 + 110x + 121

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It should be D right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That one got me confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. because (5x-11)(5x-11) |dw:1404983154808:dw|
