The sharecropping system of agriculture kept many former slaves bound to the land. Few could escape the violence, poverty, and state-supported discrimination. In 1867, the black codes were used which meant you can't vote or carry weapons, which explained the meaning of socially. From my understanding "whites" could carry weapons, vote and all. In the though the slaves were freed things still weren't right, sand many things were fair. There was another admendment that was pushed through which was everyone has to be treated equally. Which helped all three (socially, politically, and economically) and that meant the Black Codes had to stop then. I wrote that and my teacher gave me a 65% :/
