Determine the number of solutions you will have for the system 4y + x = 16 and y = 4 - x. Select one: a. No solutions. b. One solution. c. Impossible to determine. d. Indefinite solutions.

OpenStudy (larseighner):

What happens if you solve the first equation for y?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well if you write the 1st equation in slope intercept form you get y = - 1/4 x + 4 the lines have different slopes and the same y-intercept. so its one solution. you can use this line to graph the lines and check the number of solutions. https://www.desmos.com/calculator hope it helps
