Which step is included in the construction of perpendicular lines using a point on the line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to have 2 points to form a line, therefore a slope. If slope = m Then -1/m will be the slope of the perpendicular line. So you would need to take a second point on the line, determine the slope using the first point, say A, and the second point, say B by the following method. A(x1, y1) B(x2, y2) m = [y2-y1]/[x2-x1]

Once you have m, you take the opposite reciprocal of it. Opposite of m is -m Reciprocal of m is 1/m Opp Reciprocal of m = -1/m
