One way of finding a common denominator of two numbers is to multiply the numbers together. That will not necessarily give you the least (meaning smallest) common denominator, but it will give you a common denominator. Another way of finding a common denominator of two numbers is to list several multiples of both numbers until you find one multiple that is a multiple of both.
