Carson bought a length of board for his woodworking project. To get the size he needed for his first piece, he cut it the board in half, then cut off another one-fourth inch. If the resulting board length was eleven and three-fourths inches, what was the original length of the board?

OpenStudy (triciaal):

let the original length = b b/2 -1/4= 11and 3/4 b/2 = 12 inches = 1ft b = 2 times 12 inches = 2 ft
