Can someone double check my work? Thanks~ A quality control inspector is in charge of inspecting drill bits that are produced on an assembly line. The diameter of a drill bit can be modeled by the equation |x − 0.525| = 0.01. Show your work in solving the equation to determine the minimum and maximum diameters of the drill bits. |x – 0.525| = 0.01

OpenStudy (naga447):

I've come up with .4 => x <= .6

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

Ok give me a minute

OpenStudy (naga447):

Okay :]

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

|x - .5| = .1 is the same as |x - .5| <= .1 the maximum that some thing can be is .1 then certainly it can be less than that. -.1 <= x - .5 <= .1 which is -.1 + .5 <= x <= .1 + .5 same as .4 <= x <= .6 So in words: As the minimum that the diameter can be is .4 and the maximum that it can be is .6.

OpenStudy (naga447):

Oh so I have them reversed :) it should be... .4 <= x >= .6

OpenStudy (geekfromthefutur):

There u go ^~^

OpenStudy (naga447):

awesome! Thank you very much!
